Art-n-Soulful Sunday: "Out of Baltimore"
This edition of Art-n-Soulful Sunday features the work of Baltimore native Eljay Elijah McBride. Creating art since a young child, Eljay Elijah McBride is a self-taught artist, with notable formal education. He attended Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, but most peers refer to his artistic talents as "God-gifted".
Elijah's work is contemporary and vibrant multi-layered acrylic and oil paintings, most of a jazz theme. His most popular pieces are "Annie" and "Born Again". His art is shown around the world and can be found in the collections of Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey, Anita Baker, and Sugar Ray Leonard.
Elijah is a philanthropist who donates his talent to various fundraisers and charity events throughout Baltimore. Elijah still resides in Baltimore and his work is currently on display at The Shops at North & Charles, located at 23 E. North Ave in the Station North Arts & Entertainment District. I had an opportunity to view his work on yesterday and was in awe. His work is stunning, captivating, and thought provoking.
